Wedding prep…

So following my theme/ habit of a lifetime where I like to make things difficult, I am trying to extend my house and plan a wedding at the same time. Now in my defence, the application for remortgage went in last September (and the build started 4 weeks ago) – and we’re still fighting with the bank…….the less said on that the better because the rage that will follow is not something I wish to inflict on you lovely people!
Planning a wedding! Yay!

I am lucky that I worked as a wedding coordinator for two very busy hotels, so I was able to know who I wanted straight off the bat & what type of wedding we would want.
Things I learned as a wedding co-ordinator;

1 Your photographer is incredibly important, and prob the second booking you need to make (after your venue of course) as soon as you book your date. This person will be there from the prep to the 1st dance, catching all those special glances and moments. They need to be invisible and as stealthy as a cat but still smack bang in the middle so they catch the bold face a page boy pulls or the slight trip by the bride as she walks up the aisle – we all know this will be me! So do the research, take the time to look at style, and talk to them! Because if you can’t have the craic with them those smiles will always look forced!

Two photographers I worked with loads were Elaine Barker and Alan Dunne, and would highly recommend both.

2 It’s your day. Repeat after me. It’s your day. When the “suggestions” become overwhelming, let that become your mantra – but don’t slip into tyrant territory! No one wants to be the absolute horror story of a bride / groom that becomes the urban legend. So make the day you want, because you’re spending a fortune on it, you’d better enjoy it!

3 Do not buy your wedding outfit with the expectation you will lose weight. You might. You might not. But you are marrying the person who loves you, warts & all. So don’t put yourself under that level of pressure. Planning a wedding is tough enough without being hangry all the time. Wear whatever makes you feel sensational!

4 All anyone cares about it the food and the fun (usually influenced by the amount of drink!) so if you need to decide between favours for everyone or giving them all an extra glass of wine – pick wine. Always pick wine! Of course there will be oohs & aahs over the lovely room – because of course the venue you picked is fabulous! – but if the food is meh…yeah, you don’t want that.

5 Enjoy it! You are embarking on a fun adventure with the person you love, and that’s all that’s important!

So yeah, there we are!

Happiness is…

Yes, I’m terrible… bla bla bla… I have good intentions, but have had a draining year and the blog wasn’t priority. Forgive me?

Have recently tried to re wire the brain to find joy in the little things. Tonight it’s hanging on the couch with himself, having a (bottle of) wine or two, and getting shnugs from the fur baby. Couldn’t ask for more. Oh! Actually, an excuse to look at Chris Evans for an hour or two?! Civil war let’s be having ya!

Happy new year yis pack of rides!!

Outfit of the day 25/12/15

Yes it’s a little late but I’ve been too busy, eeeehhhh, eating….. And working! Yes!! I’ve been working too! Ah the joys of the service industry!!

Black courts (not really seen) are from Penneys / Primark, tulle skirt is from Cari’s Closet (sale for €20!!), black cardi is from Oasis, beads are Chanel, watch is DKNY, and ring is antique.

Christmas Day was its usual whirlwind of visiting and jamming as much into it as possible, before being able to take off the nice clothes & put on your jammies because (in the words of Regina George) “this is all that fits me right now”.

Proof!!

Outfit of the day 24/10/15

Today I was up at stupid o’clock (4am) again to get to the airport, so my ensemble is boring – but very comfortable for the long day we had ahead of us!

Burgundy, wide collar coat is Savida for Dunnes Stores, scarf was a gift from Seville, black cardigan is Oasis, purple tank is Jack Wills, black skinnies are Next, pewter brogues are Clarks, & orange bag is Longchamp.
Tomorrow is the christening of my nephew so will have the outfit from that then!

Outfit of the day 25/10/15

My nephew was being christened, so that called for glamming up!!!

(I had to brighten up the pic as the original was way too dark)

Grey short sleeve jumper (with black sequins on the shoulder) is from F&F (Tesco), midnight blue midi skirt from UFashion, black pointed toe heels from Penneys, white & black clutch from Onyx in Blackrock.

Accessories consisted of gold drop earrings & bracelet from Stonechat in the Westbury Mall, and rose gold watch from DKNY.

Also, I picked up this Rimmel eye liner & it is idiot proof – perfect feline flick the first try!!

Outfit of the day 20/09/2015

Today I was on a quick fire round trip to London to meet my new nephew (& hopefully get a cuddle with his older brother & my sister in at the same time!) so comfy was high on priority list!!

(Excuse the airport bathroom mirror selfie, didn’t think himself would appreciate the light being put on at 5am for a mirror selfie!)

Blanket cape is from Oasis (Spring 2015 – but they’ve very similar ones in at the moment!), checked shirt is men’s from Tommy Hilfiger – love a mans shirt as they’re so much longer & better across the shoulders (& bust), long tanks (grey & dark purple) are both from Jack Wills, dark indigo jeans are from Levis Curve, ankle boots are from New Look, orange bag is Longchamp & my watch is DKNY.

And these are the amazing products that made me look human at 5am & stayed put until I got home at 1am -after a delayed flight! (The 17 blusher is actually one I use for eyeshadow as it doesn’t suit on my cheeks)

Today’s outfit (03/08/2015)

Being a bank holiday (& sorta sunny) I felt like getting the legs out. Mainly because I wanted to wear this skirt is bought in the sales (€12!!). Any excuse huh?!?

Denim shirt is from Penneys/Primark, navy string strap tank is from h&m (as are the gold gladiator sandals), striped stretch pencil skirt is from Next & the rose gold watch was a houseiversary present from himself to celebrate one year since we got the keys to our house!

Also, to give this a bit of oomph I used a bright pink lippy – Kate Moss for Rimmel, number 20.

Today’s outfit 23/05/2015

Sliiiiiightly delayed, but sure, here we are now!

Himself’s brother turned 30 over the weekend, so there was a big party in one of the local pubs for it, so a glammed up outfit was required!!

Not the best picture, but the mirror is too close to my bed, and we fairly had to wedge it onto the nails so there was no chance of my taking it down for a better angle!

White blazer – with black lapels, is from AWear, purple shift dress from New Look, black heels from Penneys, with a black & white clutch from Onyx in Blackrock Shopping Centre.

For my hair I went for a slightly curly blow dry with lots of volume in the roots (my local salon Zinc Hair & Beauty did it perfectly!) so it stayed in shape all night.

My make up consisted of a smokey brown eye, strong brows, (hopefully) dewy skin & a pale lip.
Base: Mac – prep + prime “skin refined treatment soin”, Stila ” one step correct” & “stay all day” foundation & concealer, & Natural Collection pressed powder

Cheeks: Nars blusher in “orgasm”, no7 blusher in “coral flush”, Bobbi Brown shimmer brick compact in “rose” & La Perla bronzer.

Eyes & brows: Stila ‘in the know’ shadow palette – used wind, desert, clay & rain, Nars duo in “cordura”, Rimmel wonder’ful mascara (waterproof, black), Benefit ‘show offs!’ in “candi”, & Rimmel eyebrow pencil in “hazel”

Lips – Lancôme juicy tube (not sure which colour, but it’s a pale shimmery pink)

Last night was a family party for an aunt & uncles birthday, so all of the glamming up happened!!

Khaki draped blouse is from Betty Jackson (in Debenhams), black skinny trousers are from Next, heels were a gift from himself (mentioned in multiple blog posts previously!) from HighHeels.ie, skull bag is from Fran & Jane, and my jewellery is vintage and from Stonechat in the Westbury Mall.
